Our Story

What began as a Brazilian dream became a New York beauty icon.

After arriving in New York, Maria Bonita’s founder brought with her a vision to introduce the warmth, artistry, and authenticity of Brazilian beauty to the city. In 2003, that vision came to life with the opening of the first salon on Prince Street in SoHo. What started as a Brazilian salon soon grew into a sought-after beauty destination, attracting a loyal clientele, celebrity guests, and recognition from the media. As its reputation grew, so did the brand, evolving into additional locations, including Broome Street, while remaining rooted in the Brazilian spirit that made it distinctive from the beginning.

The journey eventually entered a new chapter with the decision to license the Maria Bonita name, allowing the brand and its legacy to continue evolving. Today, its founder remains connected to what she created as founder and royalty owner, carrying forward the story that began more than two decades ago while looking toward a future built on the same vision, passion, and Brazilian identity that first brought Maria Bonita to New York.
